# In-Game Economy

The in-game economy is designed to balance token issuance with in-game activities. As players earn $AQUA, they can spend tokens on in-game items, upgrades, and power-ups. This creates a sustainable loop of earning and spending within the game.

### Play-To-Earn Mechanics

* **Leaderboard Rewards**: Top players on the weekly leaderboard receive additional $AQUA rewards.
* **Special Events**: Periodic events offer players the chance to earn bonus tokens.
* **Betting Pool:** Top players will receive a small portion of the total bets placed on them.

### Betting

Players will also be able to earn $AQUA through betting, by backing their favourite Aqua Doge pro-gamers to win weekly tournaments. Each week, all bets will go into a centralized pool, which will be divided up amongst the backers of the winning player at the end of each week. A small portion of the weekly pool will also be divided up amongst the competitors, based on how heavily they were backed. This will nurture an Aqua Doge pro-gaming culture, while also keeping rewards, and by extension engagement high for casual players and spectators.
